Look Outside The Box

Last night Hubby and i attended a Thank You meeting for the Church our oldest daughter attended while attending Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. What a grand time was had by over 400 who have a passion for the word of God being preached on a College and University campus. The Church's name is Purdue Christian Campus House and is in it's 40th year of existence. The Church was began by Doug Dickey. Most people have no idea who this man is, but He started 3 different Camus House's in the mid 1960's at Indiana University, University of Illinois, and Purdue. Today there are others in Kentucky University, Illinois State in Illinois, Ball State in Indiana, and a small collage in Missiour. All these I know about. I understand there are in other Universities and Colleges in the United States where a Campus House is.

The Campus House at Purdue is now holding 4 services with an average of 1100 on any given Sunday and over 400 on a Thursday night, with more attending 80 small groups during the week. Hubby and I have attended Church on many occasions through the past 10 years and what a treat to be in a service where God is. God is moving on the Purdue campus and I have heard others say they can feel Him on other campuses thought out the United States.

A new project is in the planing stages for the Purdue Christian Campus House to look out of their box and get out of the Church building and go where the students are, not expect the students come to them. I was blown over as they explained what their plans are. The staff plans to buy a prime peace of propriety on Purdue's campus and open a Coffee House. This location is in an area of a culturally diverse population with Ethnic grocery stores with all kinds of food for different cultures. In June the PCCH will be hosting a work camp for any man, woman, and child to help gut the building, remodel the inside and outside and be open for business the middle of August. This coffee house is to be place where good food and coffee can be had, as well as, good spontaneous conversation can go on in a safe place outside of a Church building.

Good Morning Joyce,
Sounds like you and your husband had a great time attending this event. This sounds like a great idea to open a coffee house. I know the Students will enjoy it and that GOD will be working thru the Coffee House. It is so wonderful to see things being done for GOD'S GLORY. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
