Wonderful Wednesday

This day is turning out to be a wonderful word filled Wednesday. First I made a telephone call to a friend at the college I attended and she told me about 2 jobs that will be posted in the next day or two. I have calcification's for both of them. I will apply and see what happens. Next I was reading a post from a friend I have made and she had a web site that if you like cooking and baking for Christmas this is a site to visit and can get it from my list of links. It is called North Pole. Then I heard the sound of a combine. Our neighbor has a huge John Deere combine in a very small field of corn. It will only take him a round and a half to get it. It will take just a few minutes to pick but 10 minutes to turn it around to finish the field.

Today's holiday is not one of my favorite days, but it has turned out to be a wonderful fall day so the children will have a safe Trick or Treating evening in our small town. Our Church is hosting a party for the kids of the town for an alternative. Good knows how to brighten up a day that starts our cold and gray.

Submission

For two weeks now the Lord has been leading me to the book of Ephesians and the chapter and verses concerning submission of a wife to her husband. In the two weeks I have read different devotions on the subject that has been leading up to today. Today in the Ladies Bible Study I attend we discussed Sarah and what joys came to her when she submitted totally to God. Between Genesis and Ephesians I have finally realized something, for God to answer a pray of mine I must fully submit to my husband. When I do that I believe God will answer the pray and wonderful joys will come my way.

Wash Day

As a young girl I was told that Monday is to be set a side for wash day. I remember my Mom washing with a wringer washing machine. I liked to help and one day I stuck my hand through the wringer, Mom came running and fell spraining her ankle to get to me she forgot her pain and shut the washer off and took my hand out. Our Dr. lived at the end of our block so Mom hobbles down with me to make sure I had not broken anything. Thank the Lord she just had a small sprain and I had not broken anything so the wash was finished and hung on the line.

So 55 years later I have a washer and dryer that is up to date with the times. I still hang clothes on the line in good weather so today that is what I have been doing. I can not wait to smell the clothes as I take them off the line. How God has helped in the inventions of different generations to make it easier for the cleaning of clothes. What will our grandchildren have to wash their clothes? I can not wait to see.

Seven Events for the Past Week

This was an interesting week. Some praises-Some old friends
1. I received an e-mail from a friend who was going through some depression and he said he is getting help and his humor is coming back. Thanks for the prayers.

2. A beautiful fall day for my husband to pick corn and the yield is better than he was expecting.

3. Our car was sent in for repair and came back as good as new. Now safe to drive

4. We have had a freeze here so the colors will come out better.

5. The sand hill cranes are here for their fall visit and fun to watch them fly.

6. Two young adults from Purdue Christian Campus House visited the Church we attend and gave a wonderful report on what they are doing and the work that is going on on Purdue's campus. A revival is going on through out the campus. Praise God

7. A fellowship after Church for the two from Purdue and a joy to watch them eat what they call home cooked food and the conversations that went on thought out the meal.

A Real Friend

This is Faithful Friday and I recevied this from a friend and thought it worth passing on. We all have real friends like this.

Thankful Thursday and Computers

I am very thankful today for help with a computer problem. My computer is OK, but a few weeks ago I helped a friend from the college I attended that needed some information I had on a ZIP disk. Well, she took the disk to campus to download on a flash drive, but could not find a computer on campus that had a Zip Drive. She called for help. I have another friend on campus who is the Computer TECH for a department. Thankfully he will be able to help her so all is well. What an awesome God to create all the new technology and individuals to teach that technology we have today.

Tuesday For Girls

A few years ago I started noticing what girls were wearing to college. For some of them it was short skirts and low cut tops. My girls are in their mid twenties and the style of clothes for them when they were teenagers was a more modest way of dress. When I started seeing what the girls were wearing I decided to take a look in stores in a mall that catered to their age group. The poor girls have no choice of what to wear. It was decided for them to wear short skirts and low cut tops. I decided to take a survey of freshmen collage girls and found out that a majority of them did not like the styles, but had very little choice from the stores they visited. One girl I meet had the opportunity to visit China and her parents gave extra money to buy clothes there. The Culture of China is a more Conservative drees country so she came back with clothes she was happy to wear. They were longer skirts, higher cut tops, and jeans that were not so tight. Maybe as mothers we must starting writing to designers for change.

Changing Seasons

Yesterday and today are simply beautiful days of fall in my part of Indiana. I found this written on the back of a Church Bulletin and want to share it with you. It was written by Nancy Otto Boffo. "As we look over our lives and the world around us we see constant change. It's autumn and the deep greens of summer leaves are changing into brilliant hues of red and gold. Soon the trees will be bare and temperatures will turn colder. Our lives will change as we adjust to these differences. In fact, each day we must adapt to the constant changes we face. How well we cope depends on our outlook, our openness to adjustments, and our faith in the One who never changes-God in Hebrews 13: 8 we read, "'Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever(NIV)."' What a comfort to know that His live is constant and enduring. We are assured that no matter what we face our never-changing Lord is by our side to help us through the ever-changing seasons of our lives."

Sunday Seven and More

I am changing the Sunday Seven a little. These are the seven steps that our Minister preached on this morning. The sermon title was Seven Biblical Steps to Restoring a Broken Relationship. The scripture used was Philippians 4:2-4 This passage is about a conflict between two women in the Philippine church that Paul addresses.

1. Talk to God before you talk to the person
2. Take the initiative--Don't wait for the other party
3. Be a good listener--Be quick to hear and slow to speak
4. Acknowledge your part of the conflict
5. Attach the problem--Don't fix blame
6. Cooperate as much as possible--Make peace
7. Emphasize reconciliation not resolution--Focus on the relationship, not the resolution of the problem

An Out Door Saturday

God's color is just beautiful on the tress in my part of Indiana. This day is one of those Fall days that you want to be out of doors raking leaves, hanging clothes on the clothes line, taking a walk, or checking what is left in the garden. What a blessing God gives us with beautiful days in any season of the year. I always thought I liked Spring the best, but with a day like this in the Fall thoughts just go in a different direction.

Friday is here Sunday is Coming

As the title states and a line from a new song "It's Friday, but Sunday is coming;" I am having a day that is not one of my best and with the realization Sunday is only two days away I will make it. This morning I received an e-mail from a friend who is becoming depressed from the pain he is enduing from back surgery he had in August. The pain is getting less each week, but I think he wants the pain gone instantly. Wish I could be there to talk to him, but that will not happen for a week or two. Please pray for Bob.

My part of Indiana had some bad storms last night while my husband and I were out and I thanked God when we arrived home that He was with us through it all. From the news this morning I realized that We were driving ahead of it all the way home so we never were in the worst of it. What a good God to be with us all the way.

A Thursday to be Thankful

I am thankful for this Thursday. Most of the day here in my part of Indiana was a nice fall day with some color out on the trees, friends a saw today at the college I graduated from, and the safe drive I had this from bad storms that came through Indiana this evening. How thankful I am to God for being with me all day and I know will He will be with me through out the good night of sleep.

Word Filled Wednesday

The middle of the week. The middle child. The middle of the road. Which am I? Right now I am in the middle of the road. Trying to make it to bed time. Our Wednesday Family Night at our church is beyond description. We are having a great number of families who have not been in a church building much, but are enjoying not having to cook or hire a baby sitter to go out. God is working miracles that we can not imagine. This is our third Wednesday night and we are increasing to tonight of around 104. Some time in the future there will be families come to a Sunday service and want to know more about God and their salvation.

Tuesday

This is a rainy Tuesday in my part of the United States. I have just returned home from a Ladies Bible Study I have just started to attend. The discussion and study was concerning Dorcas, a woman who took care of the widows in her Church. You will find her story in Acts 9:36-42. She was able to submit to God with the talent she was given each time she made a garment for one of the women she knew. Dorcas may not have been wealthy with money, but she was rich beyond her means giving to those in need of clothing. One of the questions in the study asked "List ways you can be more generous in giving to others in need." I have been thinking on that question on my drive home and have come up with a big blank. I am an encourager, is that a need? Or I send e-mail cards to individuals. Or I help our a couple with young children. Are these ways to help those in need? I know I want to be more like Dorcas and will work towards it daily.

Need A Revival

The past three nights were so jam packed I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to put in words what happened. John and I attended a revival in a Christian Church in a neighboring town. Tommy and John Thomas Oaks were the Evangelists and they are from Tennessee. We have heard them a number of times over the past 15 years. John Thomas is talented in music and his Dad is a Preacher who can get under your skin and make you think. This weekend Tommy preached on the theme of Revival that needs to begin in the home before there can be revival in the church. What Does God Want was the question he wanted to put in our minds to use when anything came up in our lives and our marriages. There is a battle field in the United Stastes and as he said it is in the home and the family. What really hit home for me was what I want means absolutely nothing. It is in Gods hands and that is why the question of What Does God Want means so much. TGIF

Finally the end of the week. This past week has been one this farm wife wants to forget about. It began on Monday with a truck being stuck on top of a pile of corn cobs and my husband pulling it off with the tractor. All that happened was the muffler came off. Then it continued the rest of the week with little and big costly things happening. Then as I was getting dressed for the day this morning this thought came to me. It is Friday and everything will get repaired and the money will materialize and we did not get hurt in any of the happenings. What joy and peace came to me. God at work again letting me know He was with us all week and will be with us for all time. When I realized that our problems for the week are minor to others who have lived through harder circumstances this week. I marvel at how God gets our attention and his wonderful sense of humor. Sunday is coming.

Thankful Thursday

On this Thursday I am thankful for the rain we received over night. This means the farmers can take a short break from harvesting of the crops in our area. My husband along with other farmers work 16 to 20 hours a day picking corn, combining beans, planting wheat, and working ground to kill insects. Many wives work along side their spouse, as well as, cook, take care of children, and make it to Women's Bible studies.

The Joy of Chridren

My husband has been having a couple of bad days and I went into my archives and found this to cheer him up a little. I hope others will get a smile out of it.

STORY OF ELIJAH
The Sunday school teacher was carefully explaining the story of Elijah the Prophet and the false prophets of Baal. She explained how Elijah built the altar, put wood upon it, cut the steer in pieces, and laid it upon the altar. And then, Elijah commanded the people of God to fill four barrels of water and pour it over the altar. He had them do this four times "Now, said the teacher, "can anyone in the class tell me why the Lord would have Elijah pour water over the steer on the altar?"
A little girl in the back of the room started waving her hand, "I know! I know!" she said, "To make the gravy!"
LOT 'S WIFE
The Sunday School teacher was describing how Lot's wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt, when little Jason interrupted, "My Mummy looked back once, while she was driving," he announced triumphantly, "and she turned into a telephone pole!"
GOOD SAMARITAN
A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan, in which a man was beaten, robbed and left for dead. She described the situation in vivid detail so her students would catch the drama. Then, she asked the class, "If you saw a person lying on the roadside, all wounded and bleeding, what would you do?" A thoughtful little girl broke the hushed silence, "I think I'd throw up."
DID NOAH FISH?
A Sunday school teacher asked, "Johnny, do you think Noah did a lot of fishing when he was on the Ark ?"
"No," replied David. "How could he, with just two worms?"
HIGHER POWER
A Sunday school teacher said to her children, " We have been learning how powerful kings and queens were in Bible times. But, there is a higher power. Can anybody tell me what it is?" One child blurted out, "Aces!"
MOSES &THE RED SEA
Nine-year-old Joey, was asked by his mother what he had learned in Sunday school. "Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt . When he got to the Red Sea , he had his army build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then, he radioed headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved." "Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?" his mother asked. "Well, no, Mom. But, if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe it!"
THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD
A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible; Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the verse. Little Rick was excited about the task -- but, he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line. On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Ricky was so nervous.
When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's all I need to know."
Church Smiles
There was a very gracious lady who was mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another part of the country. "Is there anything breakable in here?" asked the postal clerk. "Only the Ten Commandments," answered the lady.
While driving in Pennsylvania , a family caught up to an Amish carriage. The owner of the carriage obviously had a sense of humor, because attached to the back of the carriage was a hand printed sign... "Energy efficient vehicle: Runs on oats and grass.
Caution: Do not step in exhaust.''
Sunday after church, a Mom asked her very young daughter what the lesson was about. The daughter answered, "Don't be scared, you'll get your quilt." Needless to say, the Mom was perplexed. Later in the day, the pastor stopped by for tea and the Mom asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson was about. He said "Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming."
Give me a sense of humor, Lord,
Give me the grace to see a joke,
To get some humor out of life,
And pass it on to other folk!

What Children Can Come Up With

God is a Haven

What a wonderful Lord's Day. I spent it at a camp that is a haven for at risk children from threw out the state of Michigan. My husband and I traveled up for a dinner that the camp gives once a year to say thank you for the donations of help, toys, and money. During the meal the kids who were there for a weekend camp sang and talked about an Alsome God and what He can do for the kids. They talked and sang about what they have learned about Him and how God forgives no matter the sin. Also, they talked about the Resurrection of Christ after 3 days and what a haven they have with God. At the end of their program they handed out pictures of themselves and asks those given a picture to pray for them. We were given a picture of a good looking 11 year old black boy by the name of Malik, whose life at home I can imagine is not a happy or safe one.

At the same time we got to see our two daughters and son-in-law. I enjoy seeing them in person. We talk to them all the time on the phone, but it is real good to see them and visit. We are blessed to have our children happy and doing what they want to do with their lives.

Life is an echo

I received this from a friend and I want to share it. How true it is.

LIFE IS AN ECHO

A man and his young son were walking on a mountain trail when the boy tripped on a rock and twisted his ankle. "Ahhhh!" he screamed in pain.
"Ahhhh!" came a distant reply from the mountain.
The startled boy shouted back, "Who are you?"
"Who are you?" replied the voice from the mountain.
This made him angry, so he shouted, "You're a big coward!"
"You're a big coward!" was the reply.
The puzzled boy looked at his father and asked, "Dad, what's going on?"
"Son," the father replied, "listen to this." He then shouted, "I admire you!"
"I admire you!" answered the voice.
"You are wonderful!" shouted the dad.
And the voice replied, "You are wonderful!"
The father turned to his son and explained, "People call that an echo, but it's really life.
Life always gives back to you what you give to it. Life is a mirror of all your actions. If you want to be loved, give love. If you want respect, give respect. If you want people to be patient with you, be patient with them. This rule of nature applies to every part of our lives."

Deaf and Blind

The Dr. Phil show is one that I watch once in a while. Today's show was about updates on different situations that had been helped by Dr. Phil and individuals he knows. One really touched my heart. It was about a set of triplets who were born deaf and blind. The girls are now 6 years old. Dr. Phil helped the parents with a person who in an intervener for the blind and deaf. What wonders God can provide. The therapist was able to help one of the girls and a miracle happened and the girls are on the way to being able to communicate with their parents. The parents were given a check by a foundation that Dr. Phil has to continue with individuals to help with interventions to help all 3 of the girls. The Mother said they were to be 3 Helen Keller's. What joy.

Old Friends

This afternoon I had the opportunity to visit the University I graduated from. One of the clubs I belonged to has a clothing give away and I took up a big garbage bag full of clothes to help out. The give away is for each and every student to come in and fill a bag with free clothes. The main reason for the visit was to see friends who are still taking classes. What a wonderful, fantastic,glorious day. Lots of hugs, tears and 5 hours of conversation. It was like kids getting together and talking all at the same time. We all caught up with what is going on in our lives since last May. I have been missing them and was glad to have the chance to drive up and visit. Some good things are happening with some, like a marriage being saved to one friend healing from back surgery for another. There was some disappointing news from one friend. She is getting a divorce from an alcoholic husband. Last May they were talking and the husband was starting to attend recovery classes. The husband did not feel he had a problem and stopped going. There is change going on with the look of offices and the change means the student population is rising, which is good news.

Greatful

In some of my posts I have eluded to two illness I experienced in the past 3 years. In visiting a site for older women the memories of the past came up and I want to share what God did to save my life 2 different times and in different ways. The first illness began in June of 2004. It began as a yeast infection, but through the wrong medicine it turned into a bacterial infection that had gone into my blood stream. In a chance conversation with a friend who had gone through similar circumstance she told me that the yeast infection has the same symptoms of a vaginal problem. Through that conversation I found a different Dr. who would listen to me he did diagnose the problem correctly and with the right medication my life was saved. God was in the conversation with the friend and with the Dr. all the way of the healing process which took about six months. The second illness was just last year and began in April. Again, I went to my regular Dr. and was misdiagnosed. In July I had an appointment with the Dr. who was monitoring the first illness and when he walked in the room he became very concerned about symptoms he saw. In the examination I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. He told me he was not a heart Dr., but knew that I needed water pills immediately. He sent my husband to the Drug Store and I had to start taking them before he would let me leave the hospital. What wonder pills. God in His wisdom had someone invent them. It took 4 months to get all the water out of my body, with a loss of about 80 lbs. and I became a different woman. God did it again in saving my life. Now when anyone asks "How are you doing" I say fanatically well. How can I say anything else. Yes, I am in the best health I have been in for a number of years. Now I am heart, yeast, sugar, and salt healthy. God is so good.
