A Busy Thursday

I am sitting here looking out the window and say no snow, no snow, please no snow. It is 21 degrees with the wind blowing out out the northeast at 10 MPR. When I see the word east I think oh no, snow. The weather men are telling that we could get 3 to 10 inches. I am thankful the Lord is in control and we will get just what we need.

Today I attended a Farmers meeting to do with the Chicago Board Of Trade. I learned enough that I won't be trading any time soon. I am thankful for the visiting that was done with farmers I have not seen in the past few years. Also, the lunch was delousious.

Tonight Hubby and I are attending the last home game for the High School Girls. This is Senior Night and 3 girls will be honored. We have been blessed this year to meet many of the parents of the girls. These parents realized that for the past few years we have come out to support the team and they are saying thank you.

My Son-In-Law received a call from a church near them to come and be their Youth Minister. Would you pray for them? They love the church they are attending and this church is helping with class that Matt is taking to become an ordained youth minister. He has wanted to be a youth minister for a long time and He is wondering what to do. Both of them believe in the Lord and they are praying and want pray concering this. Thank you for your prays and I know God will answer for what is best.

Now for a praise I have concerning the weather we experienced yesterday evening. At 6:00 PM the temperature was 49 with rain. Hubby and I attended a High School Girls basketball game. Sorry to say both teams lost by a narrow margin. We walked out of the School at 9:15 PM to 10 degrees with snow blowing straight out of the west, with wind gusts at 46 MPH. I started for the car and had the sensation of my feet coming off the ground. My Hubby was in front of me so He could get to the car and get my door open for me. We made it and the car started. Praise the Lord. It took 5 min for the front window to defrost so we could see out of it and what we saw was snow and a little patch of black on the ground. We realized that there was a van in front of us so we could get to the highway in front of the school so we could get back to town. This was the very first time I have had the sensation we were the only ones in a little world of snow and our cars head lights. We live 8 min. from the school and last night it took us 30 min. to get home. The wind was so strong that God must have had his hands on top of the car to keep it on the road and in the right lane. We stopped in town and realized there were 10 cars behind us. They passed and we continued to our house. I am praising the Lord that I got the door open. We woke this morning to -6 with a wind chill of -20 and wind gusts at 40 MPR. Now it us 7 with a wind chill of -5 and the wind is dying down. The sun is shining and I am toasty and warm praising the Lord that we did not loss our electricity and we do not have feet of snow on the ground.

A Woman For Life

This is the quote for In Other Words Tuesday. As I read this for the first time it finally hit me that yes I will be a woman for a life time. When I turned 21 all I could think of was to become a wife before I got to old. Yes, I did get married at 21. Becoming an older lady was not in my imagine at that age, but now being 60 I can't believe I was ever 21. Now I can be honest, I was not always a woman who lived her life for God and was not real. I could put on a good act and make family and friends think I was a lady who loved God and wanted to follow Him all the days of my life. I let things, sometimes not so good things, touch the inner sanctuary. Then I meet a person who became a friend. He is an individual who can see through the act. He began making me see I was not living a life in Christ on the inside as I was showing people of my outside. Forgiveness of the act I was putting on was what happened for my blessed loving Lord.

Then as I continued reading the quote, "And God, who loves you very much has tailor made all your outer life, your circumstances, your relationships, to pressure you into becoming that beautiful woman he's planned for you to be." Since my birthday I have been taking inventory of my life up to now. I can see where and when God was tailoring my life as a woman because of many circumstances and relationships to assist me in becoming the beautiful woman on the inside as well as on the outside. All I can and will continue to do is pray and study to stay the woman God wants me to be. I am not the woman I was, but a woman of the Lord and for the Lord.

A different Sunday Seven

Yesterday I attended a life changing seminar. This seminar was held at our Church and presented by Sheila C. Willamson, Director of Community Outreach Network Services, Inc. which is dedicated to providing high risk adults a model for regeneration and change through life-changing skills, reconciliation of offenders with their families and society, through a comprehensive community reintegration program, and development and training of professional personnel and volunteers. Sheila and her husband work to bring offenders out of the Indiana State Prison system as men and women who know who God is and have a support system in place so they do not reenter the prison system. The seminar was on training individuals to become volunteer staff to support the State of Indiana Department Of Correction units, and State County Jails in facing the challenges of working with youth and adults who are at risk while providing high quality services. This organization is looking for volunteers to go in the prisons to teach, for individuals to become support for men and women as they reenter the world of no bars, for people to pray for and donation of monies to continue.

Those who attended are members of the Church I attend. We have a Wednesday Night supper and lesson time for children and adults. Most of those who attend are at risk. Plans are to learn how to help these individuals to live a life with God and to stay out of the prison system. I will be volunteering in this and hope to assist in teaching a class on Learning Different Behaviors. From the seminar I learned that I can not go into the jail, but I can pray and I can help our community to change for the better.

How To Make

Yesterday I spent time with an individual on how to make a better presentation on a job interview. My first assignment is to construct a different cover letter and resume. I would think I know how to do both since I have written a number of each. Now I have to make a resume that tells someone my age without putting the number down. I am to use words to let future employers know I attended college and graduated from one. As I am writing this post I am thinking of what adjectives to use to say I worked in a factory on an assembly line and how I have taught Sunday School and directed Vacation Bible School without saying I worked in a factory or taught the Bible to children.

Here in Indiana it is getting down to the end of girls and boys basketball. Last night Hubby and I attended a girls game in which they won both games. Tonight we are going to attend a boys game with a rival county school. I am saving my voice so I can yell tonight. The game will either be a barn burner or one team will will by a good margin. This Sunday the Girls Sectional pairing are drawn so it it getting exciting on who our girls will play.

Tomorrow I am attending a seminar on how to council at risk adults. I am excited about this. I think God is directing me in a direction of a Lay ministry so I can continue to encourage those who have all kinds of questions.

I want to wish my daughter Carrie a Very Happy Birthday. Like all Mothers, I remember the day she was born and the praises that went to the Heavens for Her safe and glorious birth. The Lord Jesus Christ is with her all the days of Her life up to today and forever.

A Monday Smile

According to The Merriam-Webster Dictionary a SMILE (noun) is "a change of facial expression to express amusement, pleasure, or affection." I received two different e-mails from friends that had me on the floor roiling with laughter and a huge smile on my face. God knew that I needed a pick me up and with a bright sun shine created by a wonderful person in God I am picked up and smiling for ear to ear. I have a smile like the definition says. My Hubby will say every once in a while "Smile God Loves You," how true. In the middle of this winter just smile, enjoy the sun when it shines and enjoy the Son and His Father.

A Choice For Life

I want to preface this post with a statement. I believe in what I will be quoting in this post. Many of you know that this is Sanctity of Life Sunday. Many will say AMEN and others will say something not so good. Through an insert in our Sunday Church Bulletin I was convicted to pass it on. The web site is www.protectinglife.com. It is an Indiana site for the Right to Life. Feel free to investigate. I was going to upload an article, but it is to large for my computer so I will quote from it.

"Daisies, peonies, snapdragons and sunflowers. And roses in the morning dew. The beautiful array of shape, color, and fragrance is a wonderful reminder of God's great creativity and loving kindness. As Jesus told his disciples, not even King Solomon's glory compares to the beauty of lilies in the field.

Just like flowers, God creates no two children alike. Even while still in the womb, He weaves each child together with the love and skill of a master craftsman. And when we realize that each human life is created in His image, we begin to understand that life is even more beautiful than a field of sunflowers in the summer twilight.

But like a brilliant red rose trampled underfoot, the lives of over one million children are discarded each year in our nation because they are labeled as inconvenient, imperfect, or unwanted. It is when we think of these little ones that we will do well to remember the words of Mother Teresa when she said, "Too many children? That is like saying there are too many flowers."

This year, as we observe Sanctity of Life Sunday, Please remember to pray that women considering abortion will choose life instead. Pray for the defenseless unborn children that they may live. And pray that God will place within you a thankfulness for the gift of life and a willingness to defend the right of life of those who have no voice."

Thank you for allowing me to quote from the web site. I do not know what you believe, but I believe in life and life begins at conception. I can hear the What If's. What if of rape, or of a defect or safety of the women or other what if's. I know of individual couples who can not have children and would love to adopt. The few people I know would love the normal child, as well as, the child with a disability.

I Feel Like This

Just have to share this with all. Winter is here in full blast with the tempeture at -2 with wind and bright sun light. I am feeling like a bear and a friend sent this and says what I am today. Sorry the writing is so small. Enjoy.

Farmers Eat Free

Good morning to all. In my part of Indiana it is cold with a temperature of 11 degrees. Praising the Lord the wind gusts have died down and the wind chill is only at 0. No snow to be blown around.

Most times I am glad my Hubby is a livestock farmer. Yesterday was one of those days. We got to enjoy a scumpious meal at a Seed Corn meeting. The meal included home made freeze slaw, potato salad, cranberry salad, lettuce salad with the peas in it, mash potatoes and gravy, turkey and dumplings, meat loaf, ham with pineapple and papaw, and the most delightful chocolate cake dessert with cherries and very thick topping. It did not matter that we had to drive 60 miles to enjoy the meal and a very interesting meeting. As I tell friends, farmers get to eat a lot of free meals through out the year. All different kinds of companies want to say thank you for your business. How great can it be to be a farmer.


I want to introduce you to a wonderful group of ladies who want to let all know how grateful they are to the Lord. Feel free to hit the button on my side bar and visit the others. Something Cute

The sun is shining and I thought the following words were worth sharing. I marvel what children will say and I smile when I take the time to listen to them. What we can learn from them. Hope you enjoy.

Pediatric Nurse

Tuesday and Family

A family without a commitment to the God of the Bible has no hope of stemming the tide of cultural onslaught. If we mix a little biblical truth, a little secular physchology, a little romance novel idology, and a little eastern mysticism, we will get a deadly mixture of lies. Unfortunately, this is what many Christian families do . . . If we are to experience multigeneraltional faithfulness we must come to a place where we throw off the shackles of our culture and live in the fullness that is found only in Christ. We must be people who live the Word in our homes."

I believe those words with all my heart. I grew up in a home where we went to a certain church because my Dad's Mom said that was where she wanted her grandchildren to go. When she died so did going to church. Of the 10 grandchildren only 2 continued in attending church. The church I attended was one which taught the God of the Bible, but not His Son Jesus. As an adult I know that God was with me through my time in this church showing me that it was not where I should be to learn who and what Jesus could do in and with my life. Long story short, I did not pass a test to become a member of that church as an 12 year old. My parents only attend church on holidays so they did not care if I went to church or not. I began attending church where my cousin was attending with his Mom and Dad. It was a Christian Church in Sheldon, Illinois. Through the next 3 years I learned who Jesus was and chose to make a public admission of who Jesus was and wanted to become like Him. I was emerced on a Friday night in September of 1960.

I praise God and His Son Jesus that I did not get hooked on the little Bible and alot of the world my parents lived. My Husband is a Christian man and I was honored to raised 2 daughters in the Lord. As the girls grew and left home for college I realized that they were living our Christian life and not their own. I thank the Lord that He led both girls to learn who He was for them not their parents. In my small family we are steaming the onslaught of the worlds culture. The girls are adults and when the time comes and they have children they will teach their children to know God and Jesus as their personal Lord.

Last Thought Before Sleep

I know there are those out there like myself who have to review the day, week, month, year, or even many years ago before falling a sleep at night. Well last night my thoughts returned to the times I was expecting my children. Then the thoughts went to what I craved for each of the three pregnancies. Here goes, for one it was penny bubble gum from the machine, for the second one it was snicker candy bars, at least 4 a day, and the last it was vine ripe tomatoes. My husband had to keep pennies handy, stop at candy machines or buy packs of candy bars, and at odd hours head to the grouchier store and then plant the earliest tomatoes in our garden so I could have fresh tomatoes. What about you, what interesting items did you crave?

Sunday Seven

My blessings for the past week could be imagined like these 7 little men.

Monday was a beautiful day of sunshine with 50 degrees. The snow of the past week was melting and made for a wonderful day.

Tuesday began as a carbon copy of Monday with record temperatures in the upper 60's. Our area was put under a tornado warning in the early evening. We were lucky, other parts of the state and neighboring states were not so lucky. All we received was 2 hours of continual thunder and lightning, strong winds, and rain. On our farm we received about 3 inches of rain. Other parts of the area received from 5 to 15 inches of rain. The beginning of what is now called the 100 year flood.

Wednesday the temperatures were dropping and the ditches, rivers, and lakes were rising to record highs. Sand bagging was begun and people were evacuated from their homes. Roads and highways were no more. Schools were cancelled for safety reasons. In one area town a man was lost in the fast moving water and was found dead. In another area town a Mother lost 2 of 5 children when her car was swept into the water filled road side. Two different dams were opened to save them from collapse and saved two different towns in different areas from being flooded. Many highways were closed. Around our area we are lucky no bridges were damaged.

The past four days the water has been dropping and some people have been able to return to their homes to begin the clean up process. Most do not have flood insurance so the cost will be high for some. The Governor of the state of Indiana visited the flooded areas and promised assistance and to call FEMA in to assist. By Thursday some schools were back in session with 2 hour delays. Our High School girls played a basketball game and won. By Friday most highways and country roads were open and all but one school was in session.

Saturday was a sun shining day. I attended a CPR class to become certified so I can obtain a Substitute teachers license.

This is the beginning of a week that will be better.The end of the week is calling for below seasonal temptatures. This past week will go into the record books as something that has not happened in part of our state and other states in January in the past 100 years.

CPR

This morning I became a Certified CPR individual. Scary in my eyes. I pray that in an emergency I can step forward and assist until the proper individuals get to the scene. I am so glad I get to keep the book. I will have to read it from cover to cover. This past August I applied to our local school corporation to be a substitute teacher and the state of Indiana now requires a CPR certificate for all their substitute teachers.

On the way home I got to thinking about the heart and God. I know that God has a bigger heart than I can imagine. He takes care of my heart 24/7. A few post ago I made comment on not having the right experience for a job I applied for. My heart and my mind got so angry that I almost made myself sick. I was mad at the person who told me I did not have the right experience and then I got mad at God for saying NO. Finally, today I came to the realization that God only has the best in mind for me. I thought I wanted the job. I told myself I had all the classifications needed, not taking in consideration what God's plan for me is. I for one, has a hard time waiting.

The weather here is cool and sun shining with a temperature of 37. I just received a phone call about 2 jobs I had applied for and one has been filled and the other one I don't have the right experiences for what they are looking for. Life goes on. God is telling me something so I will have to listen closer from now on.

In Other Words For Tuesday

Thoughts have been going through my mind since I saw this quote and I think I have an idea what these verses mean to me and my life from today. God through some very good people have suggested that I go into a ministry of some sort. The words "extends her hands to the needy" is another reminder from God. Sunday in Church an announcement was made about a seminar to be held on helping Adults at risk at our Church Annex. I believe that I am suppose to attend and become involved in a ministry with an individual in our congregation. Adults at risk in our community consist of those on drugs, drinking problems, life styles, and those who have or could loose their children. This is a Lay ministry and a good knowledge of the Scriptures are a requirement and a love for those who need help and a knowledge of God and His son Jesus. God in this passage is telling me that I should have no fear for my family and He will keeps up provided for even if I go into a ministry that makes no money, but saves lives. Please pray for me to listen to God and just do what He wants me to do. To decern that this is of God.

Living in the mid west United States brings weather surprises and the past week has been an experienced here in a major snow storm with 10 inches of snow, wind and a temperature below zero. This weekend the temperature went into the 50's and the snow piles started melting. Yesterday we were put under a tornado warning with a temperature in the 60's. Rain started about 8:00 PM with thunder and lighting for 2 hours, stopped for a while and started raining again and still raining with major flooding with closing of schools in 4 area counties. Also, there is a problem with a dam in Monticello that could break. Here on our farm we got about 3 inches and we can make it to town since we have 2 ways to get there. Our school is on a 2 hour delay and we have not heard of any major flooding. It is till raining, but the wind as died dowm.

Good Morning to you all. Felling good about myself. I received this from a cousin of mine and finally learned how to add pictures to a post. I pray you enjoy and the post will give you good thoughts for this day.


A serviceman once wrote about a moment of comedy he had witnessed
in the army. It happened during a company inspection at the Redstone
Arsenal in Alabama.

The inspection was being conducted by a full colonel. Everything had
gone smoothly until the officer came to a certain soldier, looked
him up and down and snapped, "Button that pocket, trooper!"
The soldier, more than a little rattled, stammered, "Right now, sir?" "Of
course, right now!" was the reply. Whereupon the soldier very carefully
reached out and buttoned the flap on the colonel's shirt pocket.

The officer had been quick to note the youngster's uniform problem, but
hadn't noticed his own. For some reason, we seem to be the same way.
The faults of others stick out like a missing tooth, while our own are often
hard to spot. Small specks in other people seem major, while the planks
in our own eye seem excusable (Matt 7:1-5). Let's quit dwelling on the
faults of others all the time. The church needs builders and workers-not a
wrecking crew. Work on your own faults, then seek to help others in a
spirit of gentleness.

Friendship Means

A cousin of mine sent me an e-mail that I want to share with you for Sunday Seven. The topic is friendship and what it can mean to individuals.

1.A friend is one who believes in you when you have ceased to believe in yourself.
2.A friend is always there to give you a boost.
3.Time and distance are important between friends. When a friend is in you heart, they remain there forever.
4.Friendships enrich our lives and bring us joy and happiness.
5. One tree can start a forest, one smile can start a friendship.
6. One touch can show you care, one friend can make life worth living for. Friends are like the walls of a house. Sometimes you lean on them. But sometimes, it's enough to know they're just standing by.


Who is your friend? Who is the one true friend? My one true friend is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Encourage Kids

Good day to all. Yesterday was one of those days that just flew by. Went with hubby to exchange parts and order the right ones for a tractor and a skid loader. Then left early for a boys basketball game that was 45 minutes away to check out how good the road were. They won a well fought game. The road were a little slick from blowing snow so the travel home was not speedy. The school made a wonderful program with stats and information on both teams. In the program was a note on how we as fans should behave at sporting events. I want to share it with you since some of you have children playing in sports and some are fans that go to cheer on the team. As I was listening to our fans I became upset with some of the words being yelled. So enjoy and learn.

THAT'S MY KID
Please don't curse that kid down there,
their my kid, you see.
I did not raise my kid, dear fan, for you to call
names, my kid may not be a superstar, but
these are High School games.
So please don't curse those kids in there, they
do the best they can.
they never try to lose a game, they're kids and
you're just a fan, the game belongs to them.
You see, you're really just a guest.
They do not need a fan that gripes, they need
the very best. If you have nothing nice to say,
please leave the kids alone. If you forgot your
manners, then please just stay at home. So
cheer for those kids in there, each one's a
parent's kid.

One Down

All done with cleaning one bookcase of papers and books. It was like Christmas as I found many papers written during the 8 years. Still looking for 2 big papers I wrote on the Trail of Tears of the Cherokee Indians in the 1800's. One more to clean and Hubby can add to the wood stove. One bag in and 3 more ready to go. I found an interesting article and want to share it with you. I feel it still applies today and feel free to read it to your children.

TEN RULES OF LIFE YOU WON'T LEARN IN SCHOOL
1. Life is not fair. Get used to it. The average young person used the phrase: "It's not fair;" 86 times a day.

2. The real world won't care as much about your self-esteem as your school does. This may come as a shock.

3. Sorry, you won't make $50,000.00 a year right out of college. You won't be vice-president, or have a car phone either. (a little out dated) You may even have to wear a uniform that doesn't have a designer label.

4. If you think your professor is tough, wait until you get a boss.

5. Flipping burgers or doing any other honest work is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different work for burger flipping. They called it "opportunity."

6. It's not your parent's fault if you mess-up. Your are responsible. This is the flip side of "It's my life" and "You're not my boss."

7. Before you were born, your parents were not boring. They got that way paying your bills and listening to you.

8. Life is not divided into semesters, and you don't get summers off-not even a spring or fall break. Your are expected to show-up everyday for at least 8 hours and you don't get a new life every 16 weeks.

9. Smoking does not make you cool. Watch an 11-year-old with a cigarette butt in his/her mouth. This is what you look like to an older adult.

10. Your school may be "out-come based", but life isn't. In some schools, you're given as many times as you want to get the answer right. Standards are set low enough so everyone can meet them. This of course, bears not the slightest resemblance to anything in real-life-as you will find our.

Good luck. You are going to need it-and the harder you work, the luckier you will get.

A THIS OR THAT WEDNESDAY

This morning I began the process of cleaning out a book case of 8 years of papers and books of college courses. I only put books and papers to the top and had to use part of another one to clean. Only part of one got done. Five note books, 7 paper note books, and 10 files later I got a box full for our wood stove. Tomorrow is another day.

Have you every locked your keys in your car? Well, that happened to us this afternoon in Lafayette, In. at a Christian Book Store. Hubby and I had taken 3 young people out to eat pizza at a pizza buffet restaurant before the book store. Two of the children we have taken to camp and since their older sister is just to old to attend this camp we decided to buy her a cross necklace. What a look of joy on her face as the necklace was put on. I bought a few ornaments on a 50% sale. I made the mistake of locking the car when hubby was telling me not to. Long story short and $40latter we were on our way. I think it was of God, because on our way home we were detoured because of an accident. If we had not had to wait I think we would have been involved in that accident.

At our farm house it is 6 degrees with 10 inches of snow on the ground. We are lucky right here with the wind not blowing. This morning it was a praise when the snow plow went by, Hubby left shortly there after to do choirs at our other farm stead where our hogs are. The men of our church is remolding the Church Kitchen and hubby is up helping tonight. I can not wait to see the end product.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, 2008

Good Morning all, In my part of Indiana it is 18 degrees with 6 plus inches of snow on the ground that is just right for children to be out making snow men and having snow ball fights. We are under a weather warning that says we are going to get 2 or more inches of snow today with the wind picking up for blowing of the white stuff. My hubby has been out and is going to try it to town and then to our other farm to check on the sows and the new baby pigs. I just saw a pickup go by so the roads are not to bad yet. The landscape outside the window is just beautiful and a flock of geese are flying over the house. The tree limbs are covered with snow and makes the world seem magical.

I hope all of you had a wonderful evening of celebrating the New Year in. Hubby and I attended a party at our Church with a small group of people. Fun was had with games, food, more food, celebrating the Preacher's son on his 13th birthday, visiting and prayer. All is right with my world.

Not sure about you, but I am getting very excited about the year coming up. I know God is going to do wonders in my life and my families life. The year of 2007 was good for me. (A year in review). Last January saw me beginning my last semester of college. My last two classes under way and the beginning of getting out after going to school year around for 8 years. That is right I went fall, spring, and summer for those 8 years. Saying good by was the hardest thing I had to do. May 19, 2007 found me receiving a diploma and the beginning of the next part of my life. I came home from graduation and rested for a month and started the process of finding a job. At first I thought I could do it without God, but reality hit and now I am sitting back and letting God do His thing with my life. I have made resumes and cover letters and filled out what seems like a lot of applications and gone on a few interviews. As I have said in other posts I am in the best health. September rolls around and I began blogging which I never heard of before. In December, the 60th birthday happened. The new 40 I hear. My story in a nut shell and it brings me to January 1, 2008. I just can not wait to see what is going to happen.

My pray is that if 2007 was not the best for you that 2008 is better and you become excited with the wonder of what God has planned. My pray for my family is that my oldest finds a nice Christian man, my youngest and her husband tells me I am going to become a grandmother, and my husband has a good year in the Insurance business and farming is good. For me, I pray that I see God and what He has in store for me and I can meet someone that I can make a difference for the good in their life or many. I do not want to stifle God in anyway. I will close with a phrase my hubby says, SMILE, GOD LOVES YOU!!
