This is a bit of humor about growing old. A cousin sent it to me in an e-mail and I what to share it with yoou.



A group of 40 year old girlfriends discuss where they should meet for dinner. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Sea Shack restaurant because the waiters there are totally hot.

10 years later, at 50 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Sea Shack restaurant because the food there is very good and the wine selection is good also.

10 years later at 60 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Sea Shack because they can eat there in peace and quiet and the restaurant is smoke free.

10 years later, at 70 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Sea Shack because the restaurant is wheel chair accessible and they even have an elevator.

10 years later, at 80 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Sea Shack because that would be a great idea because they have never been there before.

A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was 'too crowded.'
'I can't go to Sunday School,' she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by.

Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday school class. The child was so happy that they found room for her, and she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have no place to worship Jesus.

Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of the poor tenement buildings. Her parents called for the kindhearted pastor who had befriended their daughter to handle the final arrangements.
As her poor little body was being moved, a worn and crumpled red purse was found which seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump.
Inside was found 57 cents and a note, scribbled in childish handwriting, which read: 'This is to help build the little church bigger so more children can go to Sunday School.'
For two years she had saved for this offering of love.

When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew instantly what he would do. Carrying this note and the cracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion.
He challenged his deacons to get busy and raise enough money for the larger building.
But the story does not end there.
A newspaper learned of the story and published It. It was read by a wealthy realtor who offered them a parcel of land worth many thousands..

When told that the church could not pay so much, he offered to sell it to the little church for 57 cents.

Church members made large donations. Checks came from far and wide.
Within five years the little girl's gift had increased to $250,000.00--a huge sum for that time (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends.

When you are in the city of Philadelphia , look up Temple Baptist Church , with a seating capacity of 3,300. And be sure to visit TempleUniversity, where thousands of students are educated.

Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital and at a Sunday School building which houses hundreds of beautiful children, built so that no child in the area will ever need to be left outside during Sunday school time.

In one of the rooms of this building may be seen the picture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents, so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history. Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr. Russell H. Conwell, author of the book, 'Acres of Diamonds'.
This is a true story, which goes to show WHAT GOD CAN DO WITH 57 CENTS.

Growing Old

Observations on Growing Older

Your kids are becoming you...and you don't like them
but your grandchildren are perfect!

Going out is good.
Coming home is better!

When people say you look "Great"
they add "for your age!"

When you needed the discount you paid full price.
Now you get discounts on everything ...
movies, hotels, flights, but you're too tired to use them.

You forget names, but it's OK
because other people forgot
they even knew you!!!

The 5 pounds you wanted to lose
is now 15 and you have a better chance
of losing your keys than the 15 pounds.

You realize you're never going
to be really good at anything, especially golf.

Your husband is counting on you
to remember things you don't remember.

The things you used to care to do,
you no longer care to do,
but you really do care that you
don't care to do them anymore.

Your husband sleeps better on a lounge chair
with the TV blaring than he does in bed.
It's called his "pre-sleep".

Remember when your mother said
"Wear clean underwear in case you GET in an accident"?
Now you bring clean underwear in case you HAVE an accident!

You used to say,
"I hope my kids GET married ...
Now, "I hope they STAY married!"

You miss the days when everything worked
with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..

Then GOOGLE, ipod, email, modem ...
were unheard of, and a mouse was something
that made you climb on a table.

You used to use more 4 letter words ...
"what?"..."when?" ???

Now that you can afford
expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.

Your husband has a night out with the guys
but he's home by 9:00 P.M. ...next week it will be 8:30 P.M.

You read 100 pages into a book before you realize you've read it.
Notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!
What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
Everybody whispers.

Now that your husband has retired ...
you'd give anything if he'd find a job!

You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet ....
2 of which you will never wear.

But old is good in some things:
old songs
old movies
And best of all OLD FRIENDS!!

The best one I relate to is remembering names of people. I can see a person in my minds eye, but to remenber the name is over my head. God is always with me through any age so old age will be no different.

Dancing With God

I pray this will give you some thought. I received this from my daughter and knew I needed to share with all of you. The picture just blows my mind on how they were able to make it.

Dancing With God

When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.

When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music,
And everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,
Both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back

Or by pressing lightly in one direction or another.
It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness,
And attentiveness from one person
And gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.

When I saw "G" , I thought of God, followed by "u" and "I".
"God, "u" and "I" dance."
God, you, and I dance.
As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust
That I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings
And mercies are upon you on this day and everyday.
May you abide in God, as God abides in you.
Dance together with God, trusting God to lead
And to guide you through each season of your life.
This prayer is powerful, and there is nothing attached.

If God has done anything for you in your life,
Please share this message with someone else.
Interceding in prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive.

There is no cost but a lot of rewards ,
So let's continue to pray for one another.
And I Hope You Dance!
